The muscle and the place
Gluteus medius, middle part, below the middle of the iliac crest
What the finger seeks
The deep tissue technique consists of moving the skin with the fingertip to roll the fibers against the bone, at the spot roughly centered along the length of the iliac crest, just below it.
Here the band is sought between skin and bone, with no superficial muscle covering it: the fibers are rolled against the underlying bone by rubbing the examining fingertip across the fibers, perpendicular to their direction.

What pressure brings out
Pain referred from this point is projected more laterally, to the midgluteal region.
It may extend into the upper thigh, posteriorly and laterally.

The technique
Invasive technique not publishable: the structured contract is incomplete.
Caution
The source publishes no depth here: it directs the probing needle toward the deep tenderness without putting a figure on any distance to a structure; its warning about the sciatic nerve applies to the muscle as a whole, nothing in it being specific to this TrP.
Convergence
This section requires a distance explicitly referencing this geometrically placed locus. A distance to its carrying muscle is never assigned to it.
